Barber’s 1833 Client: Barber's 1833 Website: barbers.co.uk Services: Social Media Management, Blogger Outreach, Copywriting Background Hailing from a farm in Somerset, Barber’s 1833 are creators of delicious cheddar cheese. Working in an agency environment, I managed social media channels and online content for the family run brand. Social Media I created targeted content for the Barber's 1833 channels, with a focus on building a community. Blogger Outreach Tailoring the approach per person, I got in touch with brand appropriate bloggers, inviting them to an event. Copywriting I created a number of blog posts, each written within SEO guidelines, and designed for social sharing. Blogger Outreach For Barber’s 1833, I successfully tempted five influencers to a fayre in Somerset. With the promise of a fun competition, bloggers travelled from around the country to compete in an exciting battle for the ‘ultimate cheese toastie.’ After a month of careful planning – from prospecting for suitable bloggers, to trouble shooting last minute dropouts, collating recipes beforehand to ensure ingredients were accessible and attending the day to co-ordinate from start to end on-site – the event was a success. The competition went off without a hitch, and a series of other pre-planned activities I had put in place to entertain those not in the kitchen (the space permitted two at once) were well received. Outreach resulted in blog posts published by each attendee, plus social media mentions across all platforms, as well as loyal new fans of the brand. As this was run purely as an awareness campaign, this was a fantastic result. Alongside the ultimate cheese toastie, I ran a secondary outreach programme, again designed to raise awareness of Barber’s 1833. Inviting food bloggers to create a meal using the cheddar as a main ingredient, I was able to quickly and easily collate a bank of recipes for use on the Barber’s website, and in a printed cookbook, whilst obtaining further links to the website, as bloggers shared their work on their own sites and social. Social Media Strategising and managing the creation and scheduling of all social content, I wrote weekly best practice messaging for Twitter and Facebook, adhering to the tone of voice previously developed for the brand. Using a consistent approach I was able to further the reach of the online community, naturally increasing follower numbers and engagement month on month. Copywriting Content marketing goes hand in hand with social media marketing, as it gives you something to share. Within my work for Barber’s 1833, I was responsible for the creation of several blog posts, each written within SEO guidelines, and designed for sharing. As a part of this responsibility I also proofread and edited the work of contributors, ensuring all copy aligned with the brand tone of voice to ensure a seamless transition from page to page.
